I’m interested in joining Madiba, do I need experience?
If you have previous experience within a similar roles that’s great! But, that isn’t essential as long as you have the right attitude, a passion for helping children and a willingness to learn then we would love to hear from you!
What qualifications do I need?
You do not need any qualifications to apply for our Residential Support Worker roles but must be willing to work towards your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (funded) A level 3, level 4 or level 5 qualification in Residential Childcare would be required for a more senior role.
What training do you provide?
All new joiners attend our 3 weeks induction held at our Head Office covering essentials including safeguarding, first aid, PACE and de-escalation techniques to ensure you feel confident going into your new role. We are heavily invested in our staff development and provide continuing professional development and funded qualifications.
What kind of shifts will I work?
Our Children’s homes operate 24/7 all year round. Our Residential Support Workers are required to work long shifts which includes sleep-in’s, weekends and bank holidays. We currently operate a rolling rota of 2 shifts on 4 shifts off, our rota’s are planned in advance to support staff work-life balance.
What is a sleep-in?
This is a shift that requires you to stay at the home overnight. You will be able to sleep during this time unless needed. These are paid in addition to your hourly wage at £50 per sleep!
Do I need a driving licence?
Yes! This is because you may be required to transport some of our young people to school, appointments and activities.
Can I apply if I have a criminal record?
We welcome all applications however; certain offenses may prevent you from working with children. We consider every case individually in line with DBS and safeguarding guidelines.
What is the recruitment process?
Once you have made an application to us our team will reach out to go through a short telephone screen. If the role is the right fit then you will be asked to attend a face to face interview with one of our Managers. All successful applicants will then be subject to our safer recruitment checks which include an Enhanced DBS check, full work history, identity verification and reference checks.
